Zanskar trek packing list
Zanskar is a remote, high-altitude valley in Ladakh. Shops are few, so what you pack is what you have.
Altitude and cold
Much of the valley lies above 3,500 m. Nights are cold in every season, so bring warm layers, a hat and gloves even for a summer trek. Plan rest days to acclimatize and talk to a doctor before a high-altitude trip.
Water
Streams are plentiful but not always clean. A filter saves buying and carrying bottled water between villages.
Trail
Paths are rocky with long descents and river crossings. Poles, broken-in boots and good socks matter more than any gadget.
Power and light
Electricity in villages can be limited. Carry a headlamp and a power bank, and keep spare batteries warm in your sleeping bag at night.
